Popcap seems set to create the genre mashup of all mashups this Fall with 'Peggle Wars.' A tower defense cum puzzle-shooter, this looks to be pretty entertaining for fans of both Peggle and the Plants versus Zombies series.

The fourteenth annual ShredFest will be livestreamed to Xbox One owners on a special app that launches the week before the September 14th start of the venerated festival. Headliners "Crong King" and "Dillard Mixars" will be on hand to hand out special Xbox One units to a lucky few fans. I'm pretty pumped, though I think the Mixars latest album isn't as good as their fourth or fifth.

Sony (SCEE) has announced plans to unveil the company's new gaming mascot, 'Sony Sandman,' at Gamescom. "We're please with the amount of Sand this puppy has got packed into his crystals, let's just leave it at that," said the head Playstation PR man, Anthony Arwarding.
The Sony representative hinted that this may have "something to do" with long-awaited game 'The Last Guardian.' "You'll just have to tune in to see!"
